Seven people, including three children, were killed and 27 injured when a remote-controlled bomb planted in garbage exploded in the Bannu Chungi area in Toi Fazal. The blast had targeted a Muharram procession.
The bomb disposal squad says 8-10 kilograms of explosives were used in the locally made bomb, while police say the bomb was planted in a garbage dump.
Police further added that a suspicious person was arrested from the site of the blast.
The injured have been shifted to local a hospital and the Police and LEA’s have cordoned off the area.
Meanwhile the army has been called in to Dera Ismail Khan to take over security in the city.
