KARACHI: As the nation braces for the biggest event of the year, the elite body of Pakistan will meet today to sight moon for Shawwal or Eid ul Fitr 2013.
There is a strong possibility of sighting of Shawwal moon today and as such Eid-ul -Fitr is likely to fall on Friday (tomorrow), meteorological experts told the media.
Mufti Muneeb ur Rehman, a leading scholar of the country, will chair the meeting, to be attended by other scholars and experts. The committee will collect evidences of moon sighting from across the country.
Saudi Arabia, United States, Canada, South America and Middle Eastern states are celebrating Eid today.
Ruet e Hilal Research Council, a body on crescent movement research, and Pakistan Met department have predicted that moon will be sighted on Thursday and that Eid ul Fitr will be celebrated on Friday, August 9.
