CHICAGO: The joint declaration of the North Atlantic Alliance, adopted on the second day of Chicago Summit, holds the role of Pakistan for peace in Afghanistan as highly vital.
A communiqué issued on Monday on the proceedings of first day of Summit stated that Pakistan’s cooperation for complete withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan is essential.
It said that the return of Allied forces from Afghanistan will be completed in phases by the end of 2014.
The communiqué said the transfer of security responsibility to Afghan authorities will end the NATO mission in Afghanistan.
It also resolved to support Afghanistan in assuming the responsibility of security.
The NATO Summit in Chicago has resolved that Afghanistan will not be allowed to again become the sanctuary of terrorists.
