Iqbal Day Celebrated Across Pakistan Today

The 135th birth anniversary of poet philosopher Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal was celebrated on Thursday across the country with national zeal, fervor and enthusiasm.

Various Cultural, educational and literary organizations organized different programmes across the country to mark the day in a befitting manner and pay homage to the great poet who envisioned the idea of a separate homeland for the Muslims of subcontinent. The newspapers published special edition and electronic channels aired special programmes to highlight role and service of Dr Allama Iqbal for Muslims of sub continent and getting separate homeland.

The main event held at Mazar E Iqbal in Lahore where a change of guard ceremony was held in a befitting manner and a smartly turned Pak Navy contingent assumed duties.

Allama Iqbal was born on 9th of November, 1877 in the city of Sialkot. He was not only a great poet that people know him as but also an incredible philosopher whose philosophy led and entire nation. Iqbal energized the Muslims of the sub-continent to know their rights and act accordingly. He truly dedicated his life for the uplift of Muslims in the British India. As a politician his stance was for an independent Muslim state which later turned in to Pakistan. Iqbal became a beacon of hope and a guide of Pakistan.

Iqbal Day is celebrated every year on the 9th of November in order to pay homage to our national poet and philosopher. It is a public holiday where a large number of cultural, literary and educational organizations conduct programs in order to remember him and his work.
