The Holy Shab-e-Baraat, the night of reverence and fervour and divine blessings for the Muslims, would be observed on Thursday night (today). The Shab-e-Baraat is the night of blessings and worship of the Allah, the 15th night of Shaban, eighth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is known as Shab-e-Baraat while it is known as Laylatul Bara’ah or Laylatun Nisfe min Sha’ban in the Arab world.
Shab-e-Baraat gives a chance to the people to seek forgiveness from the Almighty. It is said that the night welcomes the holy month of Ramadan.
The people should also forgive each other on the blessed occasion. The doors of repentance and blessings are opened on this night.
People visit the graves of their loved ones and prayers are held all night. The people fast the next day as a part of Sunnah.
Various delicacies and dishes are also made and distributed on this night.
